Quarter of a Century

this past weekend my friend Corey celebrated her 25th birthday with a huge crawfish boil at her lake house.  it was so much fun and a great excuse to have a few beers, eat entirely too much food, mingle with friends from all over, and play in the water!

my birthday was back in Feburary but due to my computer problems i didn't get a chance to post my birthday pictures so i thought that i would post some today!

I had the best 23rd Birthday ever.

Every Wednesday I go to a bible study and my group threw me a suprise party and then my college friends and sisters (sorority) threw me another suprise party after.  It was really special....I've never had a suprise anything and just felt really loved my by friends.

Happy Birthday Apryl!

meet Apryl!

this is once again a traditional Happy Birthday post for my good friend Apryl who I don't spend as much time with as I wish...and I know it's my fault...this is part of my New Year's Resolution - to be a better friend...and she is one of the people I want to be better to!

sooo instead of 5 things i love about this girl, I'm going to post 5 things i hope we do together this year! whoo!

1. take our camera's on a play date...our DSLRs and our Polaroids!

2. take another trip to Starbucks for girl talk, with Evan tagging along....hahaha!

3. at least one of her awesome parties!  so fun and creative!  (she hosted the Halloween party i went to last year)

4. do something artsy!  Apryl is an arts major and very talented so I would like to be in that 'world' with her!

5. pool days and summer nights....i love the pool at your house!  and i want to watch a movie after a day spent splashing in the water and basking in the sun! yes please!

Happy Birthday Melody!!!

guys im a really really really really bad best friend....to my best friend....Melody :( but luckily she understands that my life sorta crumpled on her birthday week so she is getting an extra exciting birthday poster today! only ya know...10 days late! (sorrysorrysorry)

so i think Melody deserves a '20 things i love about Melody' list becasue she is the best and she turned 23 on December 1! I will also try to include as many pictures as possible...hahah...we have a lot over the years...i will have to add some when I get on my other computer as well!

sooooo happy birthday to this girl!

1. I love how Melody doesn't call anyone their acutal name....like NO ONE! Her mom - Frella, me - Abileigh, my mom - Momma S, my dad - Pappa S....haha its kind of ridiculous but I have a weird love for nicknames AND my first name and middle name jammed together! it makes me think that I'm like little Laura from Little House on the Prairie...hahah!

2. i love love love this girls family! they are so funny and so nice to me....they are literally like my other family. I love to just hang out with them - weird right? Especially watching Big Brother with them! hahah and arguing with her Dad! so fun! Here is a pic of me with Melody's family in Playa del Carmen one summer in high school!

3. she has the most adorable little boy in the world! Daniel James. I really believe he has done a lot for her as a person and i can't imagine a cute-r little kid! i love him! Just look at this picture!

4. so Melody kind of brings out my fun, crazy, wild side! I'm usually pretty reserved and conservative but she kinda pushes me out of that...in a good way....not in an over the top way! I think in that sense we are great for each other because we kind of balance each other out! but man would i have been in trouble if Melody went to college with me...jusssayin....this pic is of her and Monique 'dropping' me off at my college dorm room TEAR (this makes me seriously cry)

5. this is a weird thing to like i think but its truth...we weren't exactly friends at first site! we had 7th grade biology together and rode the same bus...i don't know where my dislike for Melody started or where it turned into like either really but haha it cracks me up that i was DEF mean to her on the bus (omgshhhh im evil for that cracking me up) but i think it's cuz i really LOOOOOVED some of the boys on my bus and i didn't want any girl walking up on my turf

6. I LOVE MY BIG BROTHER PARTNER YALL! we are obessed with big brother and we watch after dark and i talk to her about almost every episode....really....big brother consumes my life over the summers and ive realized working full time over the summer is not okay! having a show that you MUST watch every night from 10p-2am is NOT OKAY....but we were hardxcore for awhile! hahah! Big Brother Parties! Keith calling Melody's dad Cappy! hahahhaha! the best!

7. so melody is kind of like a know it all about life! i feel like anytime im like hmmm who does that work i call melody and she knows! like domestic life - she knows, cool new gadgets - she knows and probably owns haha, how to cook chicken - she knows! so proud of her!

8. shes just funny! and she has like an infectious laugh! lol i love her laugh...i wish i had an audible (? WTF i just said that) of her laugh...im not a stalker i swear...yikes!

9. clothes clothes and more clothes! all available for me to borrow! LOVE! this is shows that she is a very very giving and trusting person!

10. once upon a time she bought me the best christmas present ever that forever changed my life and which i am eternally grateful...MY CHI STRAIGHTENER! What would I have ever done had that not come into my life! I'm not a makeup girl...im a straight hair girl...can't live one day without my straightener! hahaha just look in my About Me im obessed! and I owe it all to my BFF!

11. i love that when i am away for a long time due to college and just living in another town and come back home its like we havn't skipped a beat! we are just normal....our friendship really hasn't changed and im really really thankful for that esp when ive been feeling like all my friendships are rocky i know i have that solid ground with Melody and always will....and i can just text her or call her (probably text...i do hate talking on the phone) and she will make me laugh and all my worries will just go away and then i will hang up (or the equivalent in texting land) and miss Tomball and miss my senior year and miss Mexico summer trips!

12. okay so I've had so many wonderful oppurutunities in my life because of Melody and her family! I've seen more than I ever thought I would. They took me to Cancun, Benihana's, Playa del Carmen, George Straight at the Houston Rodeo, a hockey game where we met SpongeBob, Kenny Chesney in Dallas....like tons and tons and tons of stuff that I would never have gotten to do, big or small, I got to do with her!

13. This is a picture from Facebook...but I LOVED this class with Melody...haha! this is so old guys! We both had a little crush on a certain someone in this class so we would always cause trouble with him....so much fun!

14. PROM! only like one of the best nights of my life! i love that we were in the same prom group! ugh it was really amazing and i miss it so much and we looked soooo good that night! i remember getting ready at my house as the limo and everyone else was ALREADY THERE i was still trying to find my shoes and purse and get everything together so I kinda sent Melody out to greet everyone hahahah for once she got ready faster than i did! and i love the picture of Melody me and her dad at my house before prom! idk why but her dad cracks me up like literally he is so funny and that picture is just precious! (yikes there i go again saying crazy things like precious!)

15. Melody has also taken my favorite picture of me ever! hahah it was also from prom hahaha it cracks me up...just look at my face...pissed dude! hahahahha

16. lol all of our middle of the day runs to Chick-fil-a for sweet tea and french fries...haha my all time favorite drink and food! we literally would stop by Chick-fil-a like everyday for a tea fix and we would drink it in like 8 minutes! a LARGE sweet tea! hence my sick addiction to sweet tea! hmmm .... at least now I've moved to half and half right?

17. Melody is one of the best present buyers i know! you know that person that always finds the perfect thing for you and you use it all the time and can't pictures your life without it but prior to owning it you didn't even know you needed it? thats Melody! seriously! it drives me crazy and makes it very very very hard for me to buy her things! but thanks for the gifts your awesome! (oh and I have gifts for your kid at my house from his birthday lololol)

18. okay this girl and her driving! lets talk about that for one second....so i have long hair...did most of high school too...and this girl LOVES to drive fast with the windows DOWN and music blaring! hahaha it kind of drove me crazy sometimes but sometimes when I'm stressed I do that now and think of all the crazy stuff that we did in her truck! hahaha not gross crazy (ew people) we were just very very silly sixteen year olds!

19. i envy her i dont give a eff attitude about people who do her wrong....i wish i could cut people who hurt me or at least stand up to them the way that Melody can...im weak in that area! but Melody is confident in who she is and isn't afraid to tell anyone what she is thinking or how they have hurt her or done wrong by her...honesty is the best policy! not holding it in unitl you explode which is the story of my life...sigh....

20. lastly, Melody is just the most complete all around friend I have ever had. We have shared the best times and worst times of our lives together...we had each other when our grandpa's both died senior year, we celebrated our high school graduation together, we've been through many break ups together and even through marriage and childbirth...haha...its weird but shes the one person i can see in my life forever omgsh sad! i miss her but i think the distance has made our friendship better and stronger and like we know distance wont change anything! hahaha ok ok ok mushy OVER!

Happy Birthday Sally!

every time one of my friends have a birthday i have a birthday list telling all you lovelies why i love the birthday person....so this list is dedicated to my twin, Sally! the one i miss so much!


1. i looooove Sally's outlook on life! she always has a care-free, have fun atmosphere. she loves life and its addicting being around her, she is rarely down and rolls remarkably well with the punches we all know life likes to throw atcha!

2. Sally has the prettiest curly hair! I'm usually not a huge fan of curly hair because I either like it curly or straight not the like not put together look ya know? -but Sally really knows how to fix her hair well and its like her defining trait! everyone talks about her pretty pretty curls! iLOVEthem!

3. she really has had a lot of obstacles in her life but she has overcome....she had to deal with some pretty hard stuff as a child i would think but she knows that it has made her stronger and a better person and she is very open and willing to share her stories with others, it's so refreshing...our society tells us to always be strong in front of each other and not show any vulnerability but she is just the opposite...she is very transparent! and i love her!

4. i am really jealous of Sally's relationship with her brother...they are way close! i wish that i had that sort of relationship with my sister - i think that i need to work on my relationship with my sister so that hopefully we can become closer!

5. Sally is my twin in our sorority, meaning that we both got our big at the same time...we pledged the same semester and instantly became friends when we meet our other pledge sisters, i think it was because neither of us pledged as a freshman. then she left me and moved to san marcos...boo! i miss her so much - but i thank her for the time she was in the sorority with me because that year wasn't always the best for me but she was always there to talk to and we would always go to Emmy's (a super cheap Mexican restaurant close to school) and have heart to hearts...i miss being that close!

Happy Birthday Jen!

sooo like i said in a previous post this past weekend was my friend Jen's birthday! we all had a great time hanging out this weekend in celebration, special thanks to corey for setting all that up, and eating yummy food and deserts! Jen - sorry i didn't do this earlier....its been a slightly rough week! BUT since i know you forgive me i shall list the 6 things i LOVE about this girl named Jen, why 6? because she turned 24 of course! (do you get my logic?)

1. i love Jennifers crazy competitive nature! anytime we play a game she gets in this crazy frenzy where she yells and screams and jumps and talks smack - all in good fun of course - and stands in crazy stances. hahah she cant play a game remaining in her normal stance she really gets into it!

2. jens style is out of control....its like what i wish i could do but don't know how...haha everytime i tell her that she says well you just put on ridiculous stuff and dont care if people look at you crazy! and her hair! she gets crazy hair cuts but they always look so cute on her :)

3. indie music - jen has tons and tons and tons and tons of music and its all really good and interesting! she introduced me to great bands such as mewithoutyou, mates of state, and tilly and the wall. i love finding new music so i especially like this about jen!

4. she invest a lot in her friends...she really tries to get to know everyone on a very intimate level and tries to gain common ground with them...its something i really admire about her because when i first meet someone i tend to write them off if i dont 'hit it off' with them with the first 5 minutes but she doesn't do that, i mean even people that she might not feel she is close to i think would say that they are close...you know wh at i mean? everyone convides in jen and she is at the center of all the gossip - NOT that she tells it...but she hears it all...which further proves how comfortable everyone feels around her

5. jen is super funny! she cracks me up pretty regularly! and she is very into like inside jokes so I love when she and only one other person crack up because they make eye contact and it triggers soemthing that only them two understand....haha...her laugh is pretty contagious as well

6. jen is always hanging out...i honestly dont know how she does it...unless she just doens't sleep and is secertly a zombie! i mean she is always with the group...always! and the group is usually at her house...its really insane...but its really great! her apartment is always very welcoming to anyone who wants to come hang out and chill or play games or just chat!

my wonderful friend Natalie Ann just celebrated her birthday so I am doing the typical blog birthday post...and away we go....why i love natalie so!

1. Natalie and I were study buddies back in the day before I graduated! i loooooove studying with her because we are both so friggin random that it always turns out being a good time....plus she always brings skittles and she doesn't eat the orange ones so who gets them? MEEEE!

2. she gives the best relationship advice! like shes not like other girls that sit there and analize everything that a guy does and what his motives are behind it...if your a jerk to her she will move on...plain and simple!

3. okay so I met Natalie in my Chemistry II class at the downtown campus with Powell....Tarek and her would walk in 20 minutes late everyday with a Bill Miller's cup! i was like really....really? but she always looked (this is gonna be cheese fest in a sec) so pretty and cool..like i never thought we would be friends with me.

4. i love natalie's sense of fashion. she looks cute all the time! i want to look cute too!

5. natalie and i both LOVE our kitties...her cat is named chloe! she is big and really furry and would put Zoey to shame haha but we both have a mutual understanding and love for them and talk about them in a baby voice quite frequently :)

speaking of Natalie....please come back into my life....stupid summer school and stupid work!

Happy Birthday Patty Cakes!

yesterday was Patrick's Birthday ya'll! hahah okay so Birthday List here we go...the 5 reasons i am friends with this kid:

1. he is great to have serious talks with - he is very uplifting and seems to always relate to how you are feeling...him and his ex and me and my ex broke up around the same time and we had one serious convo about it all at starbucks one late night and now i pretty much feel i could talk to this guy about anything crazy going on in my life and he would give me the best advice that he had to give

2. he is a really talented musician. his passion for music is refreshing and i could listen to him sing and play the guitar or piano for hours!

3. Patrick is sooo dang funny! he cracks me up so much lol and he is so goofy that he is always being 'put on someone's team' which makes him kinda upset at times because he thinks we are making fun of him but really we are just loving him

4. Patrick resembles Huckleberry Finn. He wears these straight leg jeans that he rolls up with a pearl snap red checkered shirt....all he really needs is a pole! and his facial hair just adds the effect! lol oh and his barefoot-ed-ness!

5. he is really just an amazing person who is there for his friends and his community and knows how to be serious and be funny is a little inappropiate at times but all in good taste and just a very likeable person....and a great hugger!

Happy Birthday Lee!

so today is Lee's birthday....HAPPY BIRTHDAY LLMIII...so here a list of 8 (since that's his favorite number) things i love about Lee!

1. how much he cares for others. he honestly is the only person i really know that doesn't judge people and write them off but cares to get to know them and what they are all about - sure he might write them of then but at least he gives you a chance....and he rarely acutally writes you off. he even cares for others to a fault 'cause he rarely thinks of himself, if ever.
2. i envy his craziness. he jumps and hops through life (literally) and doesn't care what people think and doesn't have that is this okay or appropriate to do in public complex...its refreshing even though i don't always agree :)
3. his music! for the most part! every time im in the car with Lee he is playing music that i have never ever heard in my life...i love finding new music so i like listening to his playlist haha except when im in the mood to be able to sing along with the songs....i have a great idea! - he should make me a mixed CD!
4. his musical talents! he is truly blessed and talented musically. he can sing and play so very well - i could honestly listen to him forever. he is also a very good songwriter although he seldom shares his songs with others...they are great! and im oh so jealous
5. innocence! lee is from a very small town so he just has that small town charm in him. i miss the innocence that living in a town like barksdale gave him. now he goes to school at UTSA so he has lost some, but every once in awhile it peeps through. he didn't know what a scantron was! how cute is that? but i mean innocence in a sense that he trust people are good and that they have good intent but also i mean just cuteness....
6. his knowledge and trust in Jesus. i will forever be grateful to Lee for showing me what it means to be a Christian and living that in front of me day in and day out. im not sure where i would be in my walk with Christ if he did not come into my life at exactly the moment that he did - i thank you lee times infinity!
7. his new found style...he should have totally listened to me earlier....
8. and lastly, i love lee's humor. he is a very funny man. we have shared so many laughs together haha from his jokes to just random funny life moments. i love when he laughs and gets an idea or another story and says oh man mid laugh in that weird crazy voice or how he winces his face a lot it something is truly funny to him and how he wails his arms around while laughing...its quite a sight to see!

i will always be friends with lee - i know that! he will always have a special place in my heart and i will always care about him and i think he would be comfortable saying the same thing. i want nothing but the best for him and hope that he truly finds himself soon and that our friendship can continue to ride the waves as its sometimes way hard for us to make it work.

Happy Birthday Mary and Michael!

so in a earlier blog i said i would list things i love about my friends on their birthdays...its michael's and mary's (yes they are twins!) birthdays today and they are turning 21! yayyyy! so i am going to write five things about Michael, five about Mary, and one about them as a pair that i absolutely adore about them!



Mary:

1. how she can make a long distance relationship work yet isn't consumed by talking to the boyfriend on the phone and what not, she has a life and a boyfriend....more girls should learn from her!

2. Mary is sooo freakin hilarious! Her humor not like out there direct, but like she says the funniest things under her breath or in conjuction with what other people say. It absolutely cracks me up! She is crazy sarcastic as well!

3. Motivated! Mary knows when to go out and have fun and when to stay in and study. She has pretty much given up her social life to study for the MCAT this semester so I miss her terribly but know that she has great things in her future. (PS : I can't wait until she takes her test so that I can acutally see her pretty face around)

4. One of my favorite memories of Mary was when I didn't even know her...she was Sally's neighbor and Sally wans't home yet (Sally and I were meeting there) and she let me come in her apartment because she heard me outside. It was sooo nice of her! I don't know if she even remembers that...

5. I love how like natural Mary is...idk really how to say this but like she just has a prescence about her...she is one of those girls thats looks pretty with or without makeup....with her hair done or not done....in sweats or nice clothes....idk how to describe it but im completely envious of her for that!



Michael:

1. Michael hates when you use his name a lot with speaking...for instance saying What do you think, Michael? he would much rather you just say What do you think? and imply Michael...haha...and I always add the Michael so he pretty much always hates me

2. our dinners! Michael and I have recently started cooking meals for each other...like when we feel like cooking we invite the other over for dinner because its really hard to just make food for one...its pretty delicious!

3. his love for fashion - or rahter the finer things in lifle! Michael is the best ever hook up for like 'in' things! He knows when girls are carrying fake purses and has like VIP access at the Coach store...haha pretty awesome!

4. Blackberry wine! Enough said :) Introduced to us by the wonderful Sally!

5. Michael is also incredibly funny! hahaha he is more direct than Mary...and omgshhhh they bounce off each other so incredibly well...it's really NEVER a dull time around Michael! he is a really good person in general :)



Twins: OKAY sooo i have never met siblings that get along so well as Michael and Mary! They absolutely love each other down to the core and show that to each other daily. They hang out...they talk...they do random little things for each other...they define what a brother/sister or acutally any sibling relationship should look like. I really wish I had the relationship they have with each other with my sister.

Happy Birthday T!

so i came up with the clever idea of dedicating a blog to my friends on their birthdays, yesterday was T's birthday so i will list the 21 reasons (because he turned 21) i think he is cool...k....

1. he is the funniest person i know....we have compatible humor....and thinking about it makes me laugh to myself lol
2. he is my personal Google-r even though he hates that I don't look things up for myself
3. we are traveling to Dubai one day - because it fascinates us - we literally wasted two whole days at working reading about and looking at pictures of Dubai (not kidding)
4. we talk about food at least once every time we talk...fatties!
5. he sends me random links of random crap when im at work, some interesting, some funny, some inappropriate...but all awesome
6. T is super helpful - like when i dont know how to do something, how you cure something...basically the things you would ask your mom or dad for help with i just ask him cuz he will know and not judge me for asking and if he doesn't know he will ask his mom for me hahah and i just noticed everyone reading this minus T will think that is really creepy..and maybe T too (side note: i dont live near my parents)
7. patience....with my computer illiteracy! i mean i think im pretty good but i know nothing compared to him...one time he explained to me what a server was and it took like 30 minutes for me to understand...ha!
8. his huge dislike for the word cute - but i think he is getting used to it :)
9. he has taken on my words....like my Abbey-isms! hmm like he spelled cool like kewl one day and he just copies me...cuz bitch im the bomb like tick tick...jk jk jk
10. he is the youngest person that i know that is so responsible - he really does have his life together and i want to feel like that too
11. he thinks im smart and i love when people think im smart and he thinks i can get into dental school YYYEAAAAAA
12. how dramatic he is when something or someone piss him off...lol! he is so funny when he is mad!
13. when i have a bad day T always answers my depressing emo text that goes soemthing like this 'i have no friends - no one likes me - i hate life' everyone has their moments
14. how we have intentions of studying at school together but end up gossiping about all the randoms slash hotties around us ALL night long
15. T says howdy instead of hi but is not country at all...but was in FFA! hahah awesome
16. he has a 'make yourself happy' attitude about life which is awesome...he isn't attached to things and lives for experience and having fun and wants to move a lot like nm i wont over elaborate cuz it will just annoy everyone...
17. anytime i am lost in SA i can text T and tell him where i am and he helps me get home and answers quickly so that i can change my driving course before its to late which i am reallly thankful for and probably take advantage of too much
18. he is really random and always has a weird story haha and i ususally do too so exchanging them makes me feel normal and happy :)
19. he walks around the mall for no reason on sunny days to get melatin! aww...
20. this one is selfish but he thinks im funny, and tells me often, and it makes me think he is cool and want to be his friend
21. he is really just a great friend, he is there when your mad to listen and when your sad and will tell you if your being dumb for being either, and he laughs at your jokes when you need laughter, and he is just nice...

hmm he might be laughing at some of this because i am not the nice sentimental toward my friends girl and i wouldn't say something like that out loud but i will type it and let him read it and he pretty much already knows i suppose....ok ok ok im done being dumb!

soooo HAPPY BIRTHDAY T! i hope it was awesome and since your still asleep i bet you had a great time too!
